Infrastructure & operations

Production systems are updated the same way every time, with backups checked daily and faults raising an alarm; server-room and battery monitoring are built, not yet deployed.

Production systems are kept running: updates are installed the same way every time rather than by hand, daily backups are verified rather than only taken, and faults raise an alarm instead of passing unnoticed. Two further systems in this area are built but not yet deployed. One watches the room — rack temperature, humidity, leak, smoke, vibration and access — with alarms early enough to act on. The other watches standby power, reading a battery bank down to the individual cell, with alarm thresholds on voltage, current and temperature and alarms reported to a monitoring station.

  • Updates installed the same way every time, not by hand
  • Daily backups verified, not merely scheduled
  • Faults raise an alarm instead of passing unnoticed
  • Server-room heat, leak and access alarms, built not deployed
  • Cell-level battery and UPS monitoring, built not deployed
